Historiated initial and details from the borders of f.46v of MS A.4(IV), Giovanni d’Andrea’s Glossa ordinaria in Librum Sextum (English, c. 1335-50). The initial shows a priest at an altar and a cleric contending with a man in red. The borders incorporate two men fighting with swords and shields, two lions, a trumpeting grotesque, and shields bearing the arms of Cailly and Norwich. © The Master and Fellows of St John's College Cambridge
